1191-18-0 Usage
Uses
Used in Paint Industry:
Lead succinate is used as a stabilizer and pigment for enhancing the properties and appearance of paint products. Its presence helps in improving the durability and color retention of the paint, making it a preferred choice in certain applications.
Used in Ceramics Industry:
In the ceramics industry, lead succinate is employed as a stabilizer to improve the physical and chemical properties of ceramic materials. It contributes to the strength, stability, and overall quality of the final ceramic products.
However, due to the highly toxic nature of lead succinate, its use in consumer products has been regulated in many countries. Ingestion or inhalation of lead succinate can lead to severe health issues, including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and in extreme cases, organ damage or even death. As a result, efforts are being made to minimize exposure to lead succinate and protect public health.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 1191-18-0 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,1,9 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1191-18:
(6*1)+(5*1)+(4*9)+(3*1)+(2*1)+(1*8)=60
60 % 10 = 0
So 1191-18-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis and characterisation of polymeric and oligomeric lead(II) carboxylates
Foreman, Mark R.St.J.,John Plater,Skakle, Janet M.S.
, p. 1897 - 1903 (2007/10/03)
The hydrothermal reactions of lead(II) acetate with carboxylic acids gave solids of composition [Pb(C4H4O4)] 1 (C4H4O4 = succinate); [Pb6O2(C14H9O3)8 ] 2 (C14H9O3 = benzoylbenzoate), [Pb(C8H4NO4)2(H2O)] 4 (C8H4NO4 = 2-nitrobenzoate) and [Pb(C8H3N2O6)2(H2 O)] 5 (C8H3N2O6 = 3,5-dinitrobenzoate). The reaction of lead monoxide with trichloroacetic acid in hot wet toluene followed by filtration and cooling gave a solid of composition [Pb3(C2Cl3O2)6(H2 O)3] 3. The compounds were characterised by X-ray single crystal structure determinations. Compounds 1, 3, 4 and 5 are polymeric whereas 2 is monomeric. The lead co-ordination number ranges from 5 to 8. Compound 2 is a novel hexanuclear lead(II) distorted octahedron containing two bridging oxide ligands.
