AN EFFICIENT SYNTHESIS OF 5-ARYL(or ALKYL)AMINO-4-ETHOXYCARBONYL-2-METHYLTHIO-1,3-THIAZOLES FROM DIMETHYL N-(ETHOXYCARBONYLMETHYL)IMINODITHIOCARBONATE AND ISOTHIOCYANATES.

An efficient synthesis of perfunctionalyzed 1,3-thiazoles 2a-2b with good yields has been carried out by a cyclocondensation reaction between the α-metallated dimethyl N-(ethoxycarbonylmethyl)iminodithiocarbonate and aryl or alkylisothiocyanates.
