The invention provides a synthesis method of 3-fluoro-4-methylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid, belonging to the field of chemical synthesis of medicines. According to the method, 2-halogenated-3-fluoro-4-methylpyridine is used as a raw material, and under the action of a catalyst and an alkali, carbonyl insertion coupling and a hydrolysis reaction are performed to obtain the target product 3-fluoro-4-methylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid. The method is short in reaction step and simple in synthesis operation, and the yield of the obtained product is relatively high.
