We describe an efficient synthesis of highly active renin inhibitors containing a sulfonemethylene isostere at their N-terminals and a hydroxyethylene isosters at their C-terminals.The stereospecific synthesis of N-terminal key intermediate, L-N-norleucine t-butyl ester is described.
