The porphyrin-surfactant interaction determines the activity of the title catalysts. Amphiphilic porphyrin derivatives (e.g. 1 with M = MnCl, R = CH2CH2(OCH2CH2)2OH) are easy to prepare and can be inc
PORPHYRINS AND THEIR DERIVATIVES XI. PORPHYRINS CONTAINING AN OXYETHYLENE CHAIN

The alkylation of ethylene glycol, pyrocatechol, 2,6-hydroxymethylpyridine, and p-hydroxybenzaldehyde with mono(6-chloro-3-oxahexyloxyphenyl)triphenylporphyrin leads to the formation of monoethers. They were used for the production of covalently bonded dimeric porphyrins with various orientations in space and also pentameric porphyrin and its copper complex.
