Transmembrane domain peptide/peptide nucleic acid hybrid as a model of a snare protein in vesicle fusion

Artificial models of the natural SNARE proteins containing the native linker regions (light blue/gray) and the transmembrane domains (TMDs) of synatobrevin (Syb, violet) and syntaxis-1A (Sx, orange) along with a peptide nucleic acid (PNA) recognition motif can align with either an antiparallel (see picture) or parallel orientation of the interacting strands.
