Tungsten(4+) tetrabromide, also known as tungsten(IV) bromide or WBr4, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula WBr4. It is a dark brown, crystalline solid that is soluble in nonpolar solvents such as carbon tetrachloride and chloroform. Tungsten(4+) tetrabromide is a strong oxidizing agent and is sensitive to moisture, which can lead to the formation of tungsten(VI) oxide and bromine upon exposure to air. tungsten(4+) tetrabromide is primarily used in the synthesis of various tungsten-containing materials, such as metal alloys, catalysts, and electronic components. Due to its reactivity, it is essential to handle tungsten(4+) tetrabromide with caution and in an appropriate environment to prevent unwanted reactions.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 14055-81-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,4,0,5 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 14055-81:
(7*1)+(6*4)+(5*0)+(4*5)+(3*5)+(2*8)+(1*1)=83
83 % 10 = 3
So 14055-81-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Cluster harvesting in the WBr6-P System

Str?bele, Markus,Eichele, Klaus,Meyer, Hans-Jürgen

, p. 989 - 992 (2015/02/19)

A combined thermal scanning-X-ray diffraction (XRD) approach was performed for the WBr6-P system to detect and analyze phases in this system, including metal-rich phases generated with increasing amounts of elemental (red) phosphorus under partial PBr3 release. Phases were characterized by powder XRD. A black crystalline powder of W4(PBr)Br10 was obtained after reduction of WBr6 with elemental phosphorus at 450 °C. The crystal structure of the new compound was found to be isotypic with the structure of W4(PCl)Cl10 on the basis of powder XRD data. The structure of W4(PBr)Br10 is represented by a cyclobutadiene-like tetranuclear tungsten cluster interconnected into a layered (W4(μ4-PBr)Br6i)Br8/2a-a arrangement via outer bromide ligands. The μ4-capping bromophosphinidene ligand was verified by solid-state magic-angle spinning 31P NMR spectroscopy.
