N-Trimethylsilylthiolactams react with N-chloromethyllactams and -sulfonamides to give the corresponding N-amido- and N-sulfonylamidomethyl derivatives of thiolactams in fairly high yields. By contrast, products of addition of N-trimethylsilylthiolactams to aldehydes do not react as amidoalkylating agents with N-trimethylsilyllactams.
