Modulation and binding properties of extended glycoluril molecular clips
Polavarapu, Prasad,Melander, Helena,Langer, Vratislav,Gogoll, Adolf,Grennberg, Helena
, p. 643 - 651 (2008/09/20)
A glycoluril clip (1) provides a deep cavity for binding of guest molecules. Guest species interact preferentially via hydrogen bonding or ion-lone pair interactions. Complexation-induced conformational modulation of the cavity wall distance was observed.
Synthesis, Conformational Analysis, and Binding Properties of Molecular Clips with Two Different Side Walls
Reek, Joost N. H.,Elemans, Johannes A.A.W.,Nolte, Roeland J. M.
, p. 2234 - 2243 (2007/10/03)
A new general route toward the synthesis of diphenylglycoluril clips with two different side walls starting from the new precursor 6b and the known compound 2b is described. A variety of clips are accessible in this way, some of them containing metal binding ligand systems, viz. phenanthroline, pyridine, salophen, and porphyrin for future applications as supramolecular catalysts. The physical and binding properties of the new clips are presented and discussed.
Synthesis and X-ray structure of a novel cavity-containing dinuclear nickel(II) complex
Gosling, P. A.,Sijbesma, R. P.,Spek, A. L.,Nolte, R. J. M.
, p. 404 - 406 (2007/10/02)
Compounds consisting of a substrate-binding site and a NiII or MnIII salen moiety have been synthesized. These compounds are able to epoxidise a variety of alkenes in the presence of sodium hypochlorite or iodosylbenzene. The X-ray structure of the nickel(II) complex is reported.
