Palladium catalyzed intramolecular aminoacetoxylation of D-ribose derived alkenyl tosylsulfonamide to deliver L-deoxyallonojirimycin in an overall yield of 19%. The preliminary screening of L-deoxyallonojirimycin against carbohydrate processing enzymes showed moderate inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase (yeast) and α-mannosidases.
