, p. 2915 - 2918 (2001)
Dimeric chiral Mn(III) Schiff base complex 1 has been investigated as a catalyst for enantioselective epoxidation of chromenes, indene and styrene with an objective to explore its efficiency and recycling capability. Excellent conversions were obtained wi

, p. 1978 - 1986 (2007/10/03)
Optically active aluminum(salalen) complex 2 was newly synthesized in a modular synthetic manner, and it was found to serve as an efficient catalyst for hydrophosphonylation of aldehydes and aldimines, giving the corresponding α-hydroxy and α-amino phosph
Novel chiral (salen)MnIII complexes containing a calix[4]arene unit as catalysts for enantioselective epoxidation reactions of (Z)-aryl alkenes

New asymmetric (salen)MnIII and UO2 complexes containing a calix[4]arene unit in the ligand framework were synthesized. The UO2 complexes were characterized by 1H-, 13C-, 2D TOCSY and T-ROESY NMR spectroscopy. Furthermore, the structure of one UO 2 complex was determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The data showed that UO2 complexes, which can be considered in first approximation models of the Mn=O oxidant active species, possess a chiral pocket and adopt relevant conformations for the selectivity of the oxygen transfer process. Epoxidation data of model alkenes with the MnIII complexes showed moderate ee values and were not conclusive in indicating that the calix[4]arene unit might be able to influence the selectivity by a molecular recognition mechanism.
