Palustrine is an alkaloid derived from the Equisetum palustra plant. It is dextrorotatory with a specific optical rotation and forms crystalline salts. The alkaloid contains two active hydrogens but no methoxyl groups. Upon reduction, it yields a dihydro derivative, which can be further processed to produce dihydropalustramic acid. Although a modified structure for the alkaloid has been suggested, the complete structure is not yet known with certainty. Palustrine has been known to cause poisoning in cattle, likely due to its presence in the plant.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 22324-44-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,2,3,2 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 22324-44:
(7*2)+(6*2)+(5*3)+(4*2)+(3*4)+(2*4)+(1*4)=73
73 % 10 = 3
So 22324-44-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Natsume, Mitsutaka,Ogawa, Masashi

, p. 3789 - 3792 (2007/10/02)

(+/-)-Palustrine (1a) was totally synthesized in a stereoselective manner using a 1,3-transposition reaction of the hetero atom of 5 as a key step. This study establishes the revised structures (1a and 1b) for palustrine and palustridine. KEYWORDS --- palu
