4-Chloro-alpha-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]benzeneacetic acid 2-(acetylamino)ethyl ester is used as a new medication for the treatment and prevention of acute gouty flares. It is particularly effective in managing the severe pain and inflammation associated with gout attacks, providing relief to patients suffering from this condition.
Additionally, MBX 102 is used as a URAT 1 inhibitor, which plays a crucial role in the regulation of uric acid levels in the body. By inhibiting the URAT 1 transporter, 4-Chloro-alpha-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]benzeneacetic acid 2-(acetylamino)ethyl ester helps to reduce the accumulation of uric acid, thereby preventing the formation of urate crystals and the subsequent development of gout.
