Stereoselective synthesis of novel anti-MRSA tricyclic carbapenems (trinems)

(4S)-Hydroxymethyltrinem 3 was prepared via stereoselective aldol-type reaction with optically pure (R)-2-t-butyldimethylsilyloxymethylcyclohexanone ((R)-16).
