Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 26227-73-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,6,2,2 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 26227-73:
(7*2)+(6*6)+(5*2)+(4*2)+(3*7)+(2*7)+(1*3)=106
106 % 10 = 6
So 26227-73-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Effects of carbon nanotubes on the physical properties of a nematic liquid crystal N-(4′-methoxybenzylidene)-4-butylaniline

Jber, Nasreen Raheem,Rashad, Alaa Adnan,Shihab, Mehdi Salih

, p. 28 - 36 (2013)

In this work, the nematic liquid crystal (LC) N-(4′- methoxybenzylidene)-4-n-butylaniline (MBBA) was prepared and doped with different concentrations (0.025, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, 0.08, and 0.1 wt.%) of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) at room temperature to study the electric properties of (LC-CNTs) cell. The experimental results showed that capacitance of (LC-CNTs) cell became higher than that of pure LC cell. The dielectric permittivity is determined as a function of applied frequency (100 Hz to 100 kHz) at voltage (5 V); it is found that increasing concentration of CNTs (0.1 wt.%) led to increase in the real part dielectric constant and decrease in imaginary part for (LC-CNTs) cell compared with the pure liquid crystal. Also conductivity of (LC-CNTs) cell was increased with increasing concentration of CNTs more than 0.05 wt.%. Theoretical study was carried out by using PM3 method for stable geometries of a nematic liquid crystal molecule of MBBA assembled parallel on a molecule of single-walled carbon nanotube (CNT). The result showed that the interaction caused by π,π-stacking between MBBA molecule and the wall of CNT and that may lead to formation of the local short range orientation order by LC molecules on the surface of the CNT. The binding energy of the LC molecule on the CNT wall was within the typical van der Waals interaction.

LIQUID CRYSTAL ORIENTATION ON VARIOUS SURFACES.

Ohgawara,Uchida,Wada

, p. 227 - 242 (2007/10/02)

The liquid crystal orientation on various surfaces were investigated by using the ″Liquid Crystal Chromatography,″ which is useful for observing the true orientation by eliminating impurities in the liquid crystal materials. As the result, it was found that all nematic liquid crystals of Schiff base-, biphenyl-, ester-, PCH-, and azoxy-compounds aligned parallel to the surfaces of In//2O//3, Al//2O//3, soda-lime glass, SiO, etc. On the other hand, some of these liquid crystals such as MBBA, 5CB have been known to have a tendency to align perpendicular to the surface like In//2O//3. Then, the reason of this discrepancy was also investigated and it was found that impurities produced by hydrolysis of these liquid crystals had amphiphilic characteristic which induced a perpendicular alignment of these liquid crystals.

PROPERTIES OF A HOMOLOGOUS SERIES OF 0-HYDROXY SUBSTITUTED ANILS AND SOME BINARY MIXTURES.

Hirata,Waxman,Teucher,Labes

, p. 343 - 348 (2007/10/05)

In an earlier report,**(**1**) an 0-hydroxy substituted analog (OHMBBA) of the room temperature nematic N-(p-methoxybenzylidene)-p-n-butylaniline (MBBA) was prepared, and intramolecular hydrogen bonding was found to stabilize the compound against cleavage of the anil linkage. To examine the properties of this class of compounds, the synthesis of several such 0-hydroxy substituted compounds was undertaken, and their liquid crystalline properties determined. Two broad temperature range binary systems were also examined consisting of OHMBBA mixed with N-(p-ethoxybenzylidene)-p-n-butylaniline (EBBA), and OHMBBA mixed with N-(p-methoxybenzylidene)-p-n-pentylaniline (MPBA) and their phase diagrams determined. The dynamic scattering behavior of one of these binaries - 50-50 OHMBBA-EBBA - was examined.
