Dimethyl(phenylchalcogeno)bismuthanes of the general formula (CH3)2BiEC6H5 (E = S, Se, Te), the first molecules with a Bi-Se or a Bi-Te-bond, respectively, were synthesized in good yields by reactions of tetramethyldibismuthane and diphenyldichalcogenides. At room temperature - these thermolabile compounds react quantitatively - with increasing rate in the series S-Se-Te to give CH3Bi(EC6H5)2 and Bi(CH3)3. - Key words: Dimethyl(phenylchalcogeno)bismuthanes, Methylbis(phenylchalcogeno)bismuthanes, NMR Spectra, Mass Spectra
