Twenty-eight 3β-cholesteryl-(substituted)phenyl carbonates (phenyl substituents: CH3, F, Cl, Br, I, CN, CHO, NO2 and COOC2H5, in ortho, meta and para positions) were synthesized; their UV spectra are interpreted as perturbed benzene spectra.
