Electrophilic 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridin-9-yl trifluoromethanesulfonates have been prepared and applied for the first time in the synthesis of functionalized tacrines with high efficacy by using the Buchwald-Hartwig amination reaction. Remarkably, secondar
Synthesis of O- and N-(epoxypropyl and 3-substituted-amino-2-hydroxypropyl) derivatives of 11-hydroxy-6H-tetrahydrocycloheptaquinoline and 7-chloro-9-hydroxytetrahydroacridine as potential antiamoebic agents

The O- and N--6H-7,8,9,10-tetrahydrocycloheptaquinolines/quinolones (4-9), corresponding 7H/chloro-9/10-substituted-tetrahydroacridines/acridones (13-19) and 7-chloro-9-n-butylaminotetrahydroacridine (12) have been synthesized and tested for their antiamoebic activity.Of these, compounds 4,12 and 19 exhibits in vitro antiamoebic activity against E. histolytica at 31.25, 31.25 and 62.5 μg/ml concentrations respectively but none is effective in vivo test.
