Metal-Free Cascade Oxidative Decarbonylative Alkylation/Arylation of Alkynoates with Alphatic Aldehydes
Pan, Changduo,Chen, Yu,Song, Shuai,Li, Lei,Yu, Jin-Tao
, p. 12065 - 12069 (2016)
The oxidative difunctionalization of aryl alkynoates with alphatic aldehydes as a cheap and abundant alkyl radical source was developed, providing a variety of trisubstituted alkenes in moderate to good yields. In this reaction, radical decarbonylative alkylation of C-C triple bond, 1,4-aryl migration, and decarboxylation were involved under metal-free conditions.

supporting information, p. 8791 - 8795 (2020/11/30)
A copper-catalyzed reaction protocol for the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzenes into styrene derivatives has been developed. This reaction procedure proceeded well under mild reaction conditions, providing a practical and efficient strategy for the rapid assembly of biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules, such as vinyl sulfone. Simple alkyl arenes were functionalized via consecutive β-elimination in the presence of N-sulfonylbenzo[d]imidazole with broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance.

, p. 13922 - 13929 (2018/11/23)
We have developed the first example of nickel-catalyzed Heck-type benzylation of aryl olefins with various benzylamines as benzyl electrophiles, and the benzylic C-N bond cleavage was efficiently promoted by the amine-I2 charge transfer complex (CT complex). The combination of low-cost NiCl2 and I2 has been found to facilitate Heck reaction of tertiary benzylamines and alkenes into various benzyl-substituted alkenes in good to excellent yields. This unconventional Heck reaction is proposed to go through initially the formation of a benzylic radical via oxidative addition of the C-N bond with Ni(0), then capturing by aryl alkene via radical addition, followed by single-electron transfer redox and proton abstraction without oxidant and external base.

, p. 6094 - 6099 (2018/06/11)
The hydroboration/Pd-catalyzed migrative Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of 1,3-dienes with electron-deficient aryl halides has been developed, which enables the synthesis of branched allylarenes directly from primary homoallylic alkyl boranes. A ligand-tuned linear- or branch-selective coupling for these aryl halides has also been achieved.

The oxidative difunctionalization of aryl alkynoates via benzyl radical initiated intramolecular 1,4-aryl migration and decarboxylation tandem process was developed in the presence of tert-butyl hydroperoxide as an oxidant, which provides a direct and selective route to a variety of trisubstituted alkenes from simple toluene derivatives and aryl alkynoates.
Chemo- and regioselective head-to-tail heterodimerization of vinylarenes with 1,1-diphenylethene over a heterogeneous catalyst (Snβ zeolite)

, p. 1296 - 1300 (2016/01/16)
In the presence of Snβ zeolite, vinylarenes undergo the highly chemo- and regioselective head-to-tail heterodimerization with 1,1-diphenylethene to form the corresponding alkenes in good to excellent yields. The scope of the reaction was explored by various vinylarenes with 1,1-diphenylethene. However, the substrates with strong electron-withdrawing groups failed to react with 1,1-diphenylethene under the present catalytic conditions. Moreover, the Snβ zeolite is recyclable and can be reused without significant loss in its catalytic activity.

A novel and efficient trifluoromethanesulfonic acid-catalyzed sp 3-sp2 Ci£C bond formation reaction through the direct coupling of alcohols with alkenes has been realized under mild conditions. The present protocol provides an attractive approach to a diverse range of polysubstituted olefins in good to excellent yields with high stereo- and regioselectivities. Copyright
In(OTf)3-catalyzed highly chemo- and regioselective head-to-tail heterodimerization of vinylarenes with 1,1-diarylethenes

supporting information; experimental part, p. 8290 - 8293 (2011/08/10)
Cross combination: The olefinic C-H bond in 1,1-diarylethenes selectively adds to the C=C double bond of substituted styrenes in a head-to-tail fashion under In(OTf)3 (OTf=triflate) catalysis (see scheme) while homo- and cyclodimerization reactions are suppressed. The high chemo- and regioselectivity of this intermolecular hydroalkenylation originates from the high stability and steric bulk of the diaryl-substituted tertiary carbocation intermediate. Copyright
Half-sandwich ruthenium(II) complexes of aminophosphines: Synthesis, structures and catalytic applications in C-C coupling reactions between styrenes and diphenyldiazomethane

, p. 227 - 235 (2007/10/03)
The half-sandwich Ru(II) complexes of the type [CpRu(PPh2 N(H)R)(PPh3)Cl], [CpRu(PPh2N(H)R)2Cl] (R=Ph, C6H11) and [CpRu(PPh2N(R′) PPh2-κP,κP)(PPh3)]Cl (R′=Et, nPr, iPr, nBu), were synthesized and the structures of complexes [CpRu(PPh2N(H)Ph)(PPh3) Cl] and [CpRu(PPh2N(H)Ph)2Cl] were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. All ruthenium complexes were employed in the cyclopropanation reaction of styrene derivatives in the presence of diphenyldiazomethane. All complexes afford 1,1,3,3-tetraphenyl cyclobutane along with cyclopropane derivatives; complex, [CpRu(PPh2N(nBu)PPh2-κ P,κP) (PPh3)]Cl shows better selectivity in the formation of 1,1,2-triphenylcyclopropane. In all reactions appreciable amounts of cyclopropanation products and metathesis products, 1,2-diphenylcyclopropane and 1,1-diphenylethene were obtained along with 1,1,3-triphenylpropene derivatives. The variable temperature NMR studies have suggested that the cyclopropanation reactions in the presence of ionic complex, [CpRu(PPh2N(R′)PPh 2-κP,κP)(PPh3)]Cl proceeds via carbene intermediate, [CpRu(=CPh2)(PPh2N(R′) PPh2-κP)(PPh3)]Cl.
