The role of a threefold-deprotonated 6-Phenyl-2,2′-bipyridine as a bridging ligand in dinuclear platinum(II) derivatives was analyzed. Activation of C-H bonds was invoked to explain the formation of Ar-H in a process of thermal rearrangement of (Ar)2Pt(bipy) complexes. The H NMR spectra provided evidence for the formation of one isomer only.
