Tantalum alkyl and silyl complexes of the bulky (terphenyl)imido ligand were investigated. Terphenyl ligands were employed extensively for the stabilization of highly reactive main group species. The TaMe2 group was identified by a 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) at -0.41 ppm and a 13C NMR resonance at 57.5 ppm.
