General Description
1,3-Dibromo-1,1,3,3-tetrafluoropropane is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C3H2Br2F4. It is a colorless, odorless gas and is also known by its trade name Halon 2402. 1,3-DIBROMO-1,1,3,3-TETRAFLUOROPROPANE is primarily used as a fire extinguishing agent, particularly in aircrafts, due to its ability to suppress fires without leaving behind any residue. It is also used in the manufacturing of electronic and semiconductor materials, as well as in certain medical applications. However, 1,3-Dibromo-1,1,3,3-tetrafluoropropane is considered to be an ozone-depleting substance and has been phased out of use in many countries due to its harmful environmental impact.
