460-89-9 Usage
General Description
HCFC-232, also known as 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoroethane, is a chemical compound used as a refrigerant and as a propellant in aerosol products. Classified as a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC), HCFC-232 is a greenhouse gas with high global warming potential and ozone-depleting properties. Due to its negative environmental impact, HCFC-232 is being phased out under the Montreal Protocol, an international treaty aimed at protecting the ozone layer. Alternatives to HCFC-232, such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and natural refrigerants, are being developed and adopted to reduce the negative effects on the environment.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 460-89-9 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 4,6 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 460-89:
(5*4)+(4*6)+(3*0)+(2*8)+(1*9)=69
69 % 10 = 9
So 460-89-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

TELOMERISATION DU FLUORURE DE VINYLIDENE avec CCl4 et CCl3-R
Boutevin, B.,Furet, Y.,Lemanach, L.,Vial-Reveillon, F.
, p. 95 - 109 (2007/10/02)
We have studied the telomerization of vinylidene fluoride with carbon tetrachloride, trichloroethanol and methyl trichloroacetate by redox catalysis as well as radical initiation. In all cases, we obtained telomers having the structure : R-CCl2-(CH2-CF2)n-Cl where R=Cl, CH2OH and CO2CH3.The first adducts n=1 to 3 have been isolated in each case and analysed by 1H, 13C and 19F NMR spectroscopy. We did not observe any reverse addition of the monomer on itself. We have also compared the two types of initiation for the selectivity of structures and the chain lengths. It should be noted that with CCl4 in the presence of deficiency of telogen, (often done to increase the DPn) we obtain adducts having the structure : Cl-(CF2-CH2)x-CCl2-(CH2-CF2)y-Cl.
