Uses
Used in Organic Chemistry:
(2,2'-bipyridine)nickel(II) dibromide is used as a catalyst for facilitating cross-coupling reactions and C-H activation. Its application is crucial in promoting a variety of synthetic transformations with high efficiency and selectivity, making it an important tool in the field of coordination chemistry and catalysis.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 46389-47-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 4,6,3,8 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 46389-47:
(7*4)+(6*6)+(5*3)+(4*8)+(3*9)+(2*4)+(1*7)=153
153 % 10 = 3
So 46389-47-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Mechanism of electrochemical coupling of aryl halides, catalyzed by nickel 2,2′-bipyridine complexes
Budnikova,Kargin,Sinyashin
, p. 116 - 120 (2007/10/03)
The mechanism of the cross coupling of organic halides under the action of electrochemically generated Ni0 2,2′-bipy complexes involves the stages of oxidative addition of Ni0 to the organic halide, resulting in formation of an ArNiX σ complex, its reduction to ArNiI, reaction of the latter with another Ar′X molecule to give ArAr′Ni111X, and reductive elimination (sometimes induced by electron transfer) to the cross-coupling product.
