Starting with 2,6-diphenyl-4-(p-tolyl)pyridine a synthesis of 2,6-diphenyl-4-[p-(2,6-diphenyl-4-pyridyl)phenyl]pyrylium perchlorate was performed. By reduction of the latter the corresponding radical was obtained. The radical was shown to be unstable with respect to oxygen.
