Reaction of 1-chloro-6-methoxy-3,4-dihydro naphthalene- 2-carbaldehyde 1 with hydrazine hydrate 7a, phenylhydrazine 7b, 2,4-dinitro phenylhydrazine 7c, ethylene diamine 8, ortho phenylene diamine 9, ethylene triamine 10 and ethylene tetraminell produce pyrozolo 12(a-c), benzodiazepino 13-14, cyclodecano15 and cyclotridecanol6 derivatives of naphthalene. The behaviour of the above diamines 7(a-c) and 9 compounds with malononitrile and nitrone derivatives, which were derived from 1, are also discussed.
