Barium oxalate dihydrate is a chemical compound with the formula BaC2O4·2H2O. It is a white, crystalline solid that is soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol. barium oxalate dihydrate is formed by the reaction of barium ions (Ba2+) with oxalate ions (C2O42-) and two water molecules. Barium oxalate dihydrate is used in various applications, including as a precursor in the production of barium salts, in analytical chemistry for the detection of barium, and as a reagent in the synthesis of other barium-containing compounds. It is important to handle barium oxalate dihydrate with care, as barium compounds are toxic and can cause health issues if ingested or inhaled.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 5908-76-9 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 5,9,0 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 5908-76:
(6*5)+(5*9)+(4*0)+(3*8)+(2*7)+(1*6)=119
119 % 10 = 9
So 5908-76-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Kinetic study of Y, Ba, Cu oxalates and coprecipitated Y-Ba-Cu oxalate

Hsu,Lee,Huang

, p. 295 - 305 (2008/10/08)

The kinetics of the decomposition of Y, Ba and Cu oxalates and coprecipitated Y-Ba-Cu oxalate was investigated under a nitrogen atmosphere on the basis of dynamic thermogravimetric data, the average activation energies of the decomposition of Y, Ba and Cu oxalates were obtained from the slopes of the T. Ozawa plot. The average activation energies for the dehydration of these oxalate and coprecipitated Y-Ba-Cu oxalate were also evaluated from the thermogravimetric curves.

Study of a Structural Description of the Endothermic Decompositions Solid 1 yields Solid 2 plus Gas. IV.

Ben Amor,Mutin,Aubry,Courtois

, p. 231 - 241 (2008/10/08)

The X-ray analysis of BaC//2O//4,2H//2O crystals partially transformed into BaC//2O//4,H//2O leads to the specific reticular orientation relationships of the dehydration BaC//2O//4,2H//2O goes to BaC//2O//4,H//2O plus H//2O. Their interpretation has been made by a plane-by-plane comparison of the dihydrate crystal structure with the monohydrate. The principal features of the ionic movements are described; they differ from those which are expected from a simple topological comparison of the structures. With the assumption of a displacive transformation, coherent or semicoherent interfaces seem to be built up from all invariant plane families, as deduced from the X-ray analysis.
