5938-38-5 Usage

General Description

The chemical (4xi)-1,4-anhydro-5-O-[(9Z)-octadec-9-enoyl]-D-xylo-hexitol, also known as 1,4-anhydro-5-O-octadec-9-enoyl-D-xylitol, is a compound derived from the sugar alcohol xylitol, which is commonly used as a sweetener. The chemical features a long carbon chain (octadec-9-enoyl) attached to a xylitol molecule, resulting in a fatty acid ester of xylitol. (4xi)-1,4-anhydro-5-O-[(9Z)-octadec-9-enoyl]-D-xylo-hexitol has potential applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries due to its ability to modify the properties of xylitol, such as stability and solubility, making it useful for various formulations and products. Additionally, it may also have therapeutic benefits, such as anti-inflammatory or antimicrobial properties, stemming from the presence of the fatty acid moiety.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 5938-38-5 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 5,9,3 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 5938-38:
(6*5)+(5*9)+(4*3)+(3*8)+(2*3)+(1*8)=125
125 % 10 = 5
So 5938-38-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Preparation method of sorbitan oleate

-

Paragraph 0027; 0029; 0030; 0032; 0033; 0035; 0036; 0038, (2017/04/13)

The invention belongs to the technical field of chemical synthesis, and particularly relates to a preparation method of sorbitan oleate. The preparation method comprises: adding a catalyst I, dehydrating solid sorbitol powder to obtain 1,4-sorbitan, adding oleic acid and a catalyst II, and carrying out an esterification reaction of oleic acid and 1,4-sorbitan to obtain sorbitan oleate to obtain sorbitan oleate. According to the method, the phenomenon that sediment is generated during storage of sorbitan oleate is prevented, the appearance and color of sorbitan oleate is prevented, and the exterior quality is effectively improved. Sorbitan oleate obtained from the method is good in emulsifying property and stability, and the application range of sorbitan oleate is extended.

PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLYOXYETHYLENE SORBITAN FATTY ACID ESTER

-

Page/Page column 5, (2010/12/29)

An object of the present invention is to provide a process for producing a polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid ester in which the bitterness just after the production is suppressed and also an increase in the bitterness with the lapse of time is suppressed. The process for producing a polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid ester of the invention includes reacting an ester (component A) of a fatty acid having 10 to 22 carbon atoms and a monohydric alcohol having 1 to 3 carbon atoms with at least either (component B) of sorbitol and sorbitan to form a sorbitan fatty acid ester and adding ethylene oxide to the sorbitan fatty acid ester, thereby producing a polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid ester, which is characterized that the following steps (a) to (d) are contained: (a) the component B is provided in the form of a 50 to 90% by weight aqueous solution and mixed with the component A and dehydration was performed until a water content in the system reaches 1.0% by weight or less based on the total weight of the components A and B; (b) 1 to 10% by weight of a monohydric alcohol having 1 to 3 carbon atoms and 0.1 to 1.0% by weight of an alkali catalyst based on the total weight of the components A and B are added at 50 to 90° C.; (c) a transesterification reaction is performed under a nitrogen stream at a reaction temperature of 140 to 190° C. to thereby obtain a sorbitan fatty acid ester; (d) ethylene oxide is added thereto at a reaction temperature of 70 to 130° C.

Encapsulation of microparticles in teardrop shaped polymer capsules of cellular size

-

, (2008/06/13)

Microparticles such as propagules of eukaryotic biocontrol agents are encapsulated in cellular-scale polymer capsules that have a diameter similar to normal eukaryotic cells in a range of about 10 μm to about 400 μm. The microparticles are encapsulated by adding a hydrophobic dispersion medium such as a mixture of chloroform and hexane or a mixture of corn oil and n-hexadecane having a specific gravity of about 1 and containing an emulsifier such as lecithin to an aqueous suspension of the microparticles and a polymer matrix precursor such as alginate, agitating vigorously to form a stable emulsion of microscopic globules containing a microparticle, and adding the emulsion to an aqueous solution containing a polymerizing agent such as calcium chloride to polymerize and precipitate the globules to form microparticles encapsulated in polymer matrix capsules that may be of a teardrop shape having a length of 40-200% longer than the diameter. Precipitation of the globules is regulated by substantially matching the Specific Gravity of the hydrophobic dispersion medium and the aqueous suspension. The microparticle may be a viable propagule of a weed pathogenic fungus to provide a herbicidal composition.
