For Pt(II) complexes with olefins, sulfoxides, phosphines, and pyridine of general formula L1L2PtX2 (X = Cl, Br) relations between the nature of the ligands and the catalytic properties have been established from a kinetic study of the reactions of acetophenone with methyldichloro- and methylphenyl-silanes.Unlike bisphosphine and bisolefin complexes, the bissulfoxide compounds and all mixed-ligand complexes with a sulfoxide as one of the ligands show high catalytic activity in reactions with MeSiHCl2, changing in the order C=C > SO > P(III) > Py, which is similar to that found for the hydrosilylation of olefins.
