It is a white crystalline solid with the chemical formula C7H14NO4S. Aldicarb is highly effective against a wide range of pests, including aphids, mites, and soil-dwelling insects, and is commonly applied to crops such as cotton, soybeans, and potatoes. However, due to its high toxicity to humans and potential to contaminate groundwater, its use has been restricted or banned in many countries. It is also classified as a Class Ia highly hazardous pesticide by the World Health Organization.
