One-pot synthesis of cyanamides from isoselenocyanates through deselenisation promoted by ionic liquid-supported hypervalent iodine(III) reagent 1-(4-diacetoxyiodobenzyl)-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [dibmim BF4 was developed.
