Synthesis of Rh(I) alkylated-PTA complexes as catalyst precursors in the aqueous-biphasic hydroformylation of 1-octene
Ramarou, Diteboho S.,Makhubela, Banothile C.E.,Smith, Gregory S.
, p. 23 - 31 (2018)
A series of mono- and multivalent phosphorus-based ligands was synthesised by the lower-rim benzylation of the water-soluble ligand, 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (PTA). These ligands were used to prepare mono-, bi- and trinuclear Rh(I) complexes whose catalytic activity, product selectivity and recyclability were evaluated in the aqueous biphasic hydroformylation of 1-octene.

supporting information, p. 469 - 470 (2019/06/20)
1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane was alkylated under solvent-free conditions with CH3I, CH3-(CH2)3-Br, Br-(CH2)4-Br, OH-CH2-CH2Br, and CH3CH2OOCCH2Br in a planetary ball mill with yields over 90%. Due to spontaneous resolution, both 1-(2-ethoxy-2-oxoethyl)-3,5-diaza-1-azonia-3,5-diaza-7-phosphaadamantane bromide (4) and (4-bromobutyl)-1-azonia-3,5-diaza-7-phosphaadamantane bromide (5) were obtained in the solid state as conglomerates of enantiomorphic crystals.

, p. 2020 - 2030 (2013/05/22)
New water-soluble phosphanes derived from 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane, namely, [PTA-R]Br (R = -CH2C≡CH, -CH2CONH 2, -CH2COOH), are described. Coordination of these phosphanes and their previously reported counterparts (R = -CH2CN, -CH2Ph and -CH2COOMe) to gold(I) salts gives water-soluble derivatives with chlorido, bromido or pentafluorophenyl coligands. The luminescence properties of all new compounds have been studied in the solid state and compared with the respective free PTA ligands. [PTA-CH 2Ph]Br, [PTA-CH2COOMe]Br and [AuBr(PTA-CH 2Ph)]Br have also been characterised by X-ray diffraction analysis. Some of the new gold(I) compounds exhibit strong antiproliferative effects in the human ovarian carcinoma cell line A2780 and its cisplatin-resistant variant (A2780cisR). A balanced relationship between lipophilicity and hydrophilicity is found in these derivatives, with distribution coefficients (log D 7.4) that range from 0.14 to -0.40. Copyright
A 31P NMR STUDY OF THE WATER SOLUBLE DERIVATIVES OF 1,3,5-TRIAZA-7-PHOSPHAADAMANTANE (PTA)
Fisher, Keith J.,Alyea, Elmer C.,Shahnazarian, Noel
, p. 37 - 40 (2007/10/02)
1,3,5-Triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (PTA), a small air stable aliphatic phosphine, and some water soluble derivatives have been studied mainly using 31P nmr.PTA has been shown to have a pKa of 6.0 but this basicity does not relate to the phosphorus atom but one of the nitrogen atoms in the molecule.Alkyl halides similarly add to one of the nitrogens and conductivity and nmr studies indicate that these are ammonium salts.Oxidation and the reaction with sulphur and selenium occur at phosphorus, indicated by large 31P coordination chemical shifts. All the derivatives prepared are water soluble.
