The present invention relates to a nitrate transfer reagent and preparation method and application thereof, particularly a novel organic non-cyclic trivalent iodonitrate transfer reagent and preparation method thereof. The nitrate group transfer reagent has a general formula: its structure having a structure of iodine - oxygen - iodine skeleton of non-cyclic trivalent iodine ether structure. Compared with the prior art, the reagent of the present invention takes iodobenzene as the starting material, after two steps of reaction, recrystallization can be obtained pure product, so there are advantages such as easy raw materials, easy operation, efficient synthesis, high yield and high purity of the product. The reagent is stable and highly reactive, allowing multiple nitrate esterification reactions without the need for a catalyst.

Nitration of iodobenzene, o-iodotoluene, and p-iodotoluene in acetic anhydride results in reversible oxidation to aryliodine(III) compounds prior to the formation of the expected nitro derivatives. μ-Oxo has been isolated from nitration of iodobenzene and its crystal structure determined.
