supporting information, p. 1255 - 1258 (2021/05/05)
A visible-light-induced metal-free desulfurization method for thiols and disulfides has been explored. This radical desulfurization features mild conditions, robustness, and excellent functionality compatibility. It was successfully applied not only to the desulfurization of small molecules, but also to peptides.
Desulfurization method of organic compounds containing mercapto or disulfide bond
-
Paragraph 0026, (2019/10/01)
The invention relates to a desulfurization method of organic compounds, in particular, organic compounds containing mercapto or a disulfide bond. The method comprises following steps: dissolving organic compounds containing mercapto or a disulfide bond by a solvent; adding a phosphine reagent and an initiator; and carrying out reactions in the presence of light to convert the substrate into corresponding desulfurization products. The organic compounds containing mercapto or a disulfide bond is R-SH or R-S-S-R; wherein R represents a primary carbon group, a secondary carbon group, a tertiary carbon group, an aryl group, or an acyl group. The reactions do not need any metal, and the reaction conditions are mild. Moreover, the desulfurization method has the advantages of high yield, wide substrate application range, and multiple suitable solvents, and is widely suitable for multiple kinds of mercapto-removing reactions and desulfurization reactions of disulfide.

4-Propylcatechol carbonate is a shelf-stable, renewable C1 reactant. It is easily prepared from renewable 4-propylcatechol (derived from wood) and dimethyl carbonate (derived from CO2) using a reactive distillation system. In this work, the 4-propylcatechol carbonate is used for the two-step synthesis of carbamates under mild reaction conditions. In the first step, 4-propylcatechol carbonate is treated with an alcohol at 50–80 °C in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst, such as Zn(OAc)2?2 H2O. With liquid alcohols, no solvent is used and with solid alcohols 2-methyltetrahydrofuran is used as solvent. In the second step, the alkyl 2-hydroxy-propylphenyl carbonate intermediates obtained react with amines at room temperature in 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, forming the target carbamates and the byproduct 4-propylcatechol, which can be recycled into a carbonate reactant.

supporting information, p. 6484 - 6487 (2017/07/10)
The copper-catalyzed selective mono-N-alkylation of primary amides with bis(trialkylsilyl) peroxides as alkylating agents was reported. The results of a mechanistic study suggest that this reaction should proceed via a free radical process that includes the generation of alkyl radicals from bis(trialkylsilyl) peroxides.

scheme or table, p. 874 - 889 (2009/07/10)
Growing interests in nitrogen-containing molecules involving bioactive and functional materials have stimulated the recent development of synthetic methodologies where nucleophilic addition reactions to imino carbons are utilized in crucial steps. This article summarizes double nucleophilic addition reactions with α,β-unsaturated aldimines, addition reactions using alkynyl imines, "umpoled" reactions of α-imino esters, and the use of iminium salts as reactive electrophiles. One-pot, three-step preparation of alkyl and aryl alkylcarbamates from S-methyl N-alkylthiocarbamates
Artuso, Emma,Degani, Iacopo,Fochi, Rita,Magistris, Claudio
experimental part, p. 1612 - 1618 (2009/04/03)
A general procedure for the synthesis of alkyl and aryl alkylcarbamates starting from the corresponding 5-methyl N-alkylthiocarbamates is described. This procedure consists of three steps that are carried out in a one-pot fashion, without isolating the intermediate N-alkylcarbamoyl chlorides or alkyl isocyanates. All the target products were obtained in high yields (16 examples, average yield 91%). To be noted is the recovery of a co-product of industrial interest, dimethyl disulfide, in a half mole amount for each mole of thiocarbamate, with complete exploitation of the reagent. The alkyl isocyanates, if required, can also be isolated in high yields. Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart.
Iron-catalyzed four-component reaction for the synthesis of protected primary amines
Yang, Bai-Ling,Tian, Shi-Kai
, p. 4646 - 4650 (2008/03/12)
The first catalytic four-component reaction (4CR) of carbonyl compounds with alkyl chloroformate, HMDS and Et3SiH has been developed to produce protected primary amines by a novel tandem nitrogen protection/direct reductive amination of carbonyl compounds. In the presence of 5 mol-% of an iron(II) salt, a wide variety of aldehydes and ketones were transformed into their corresponding protected primary amines in good to excellent yields under "pure" multicomponent reaction (MCR) conditions. This chemistry was further extended to masked carbonyl compounds such as acetals, ketals, and vinyl ethers. When compared with previous methods to prepare protected primary amines from a large excess of ammonia or ammonium salts, this 4CR not only saved at least one step of synthetic manipulation, but also utilized nearly stoichiometric nitrogen and hydrogen sources and avoided the formation of (protected) secondary amines. Additional advantages of this protocol include broader substrate scope, the use of an inexpensive and environmentally friendly catalyst, and mild reaction conditions. Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 2007.
