Indium, tris(2-methylpropyl)-, also known as tris(2-methylpropyl)indium or indium(III) 2-methylpropoxide, is a chemical compound with the formula In[(CH3)3CCH2O]3. It is a colorless, viscous liquid that is soluble in organic solvents. This organometallic compound is used as a precursor in the synthesis of indium-based materials, particularly in the production of indium tin oxide (ITO), which is widely used in transparent conductive coatings for touchscreens, flat panel displays, and solar cells. Tris(2-methylpropyl)indium is also employed as a catalyst in various chemical reactions and as a reagent in the preparation of indium-containing compounds. It is sensitive to air and moisture, and should be handled under an inert atmosphere or in a glovebox to prevent decomposition.
