Nafion-H catalyzed acetylation of alcohols
Kumareswaran,Pachamuthu,Vankar
, p. 1652 - 1654 (2007/10/03)
A wide variety of alcohols, some containing acid sensitive groups also, underwent smooth acetylation with acetic anhydride upon catalysis with Nation-H, a solid acid catalyst, which could be recovered and used again.
Mercury-photosensitized dehydrodimerization reactions with cyclic ethers
Genkinger,Bargon
, p. 6853 - 6856 (2007/10/03)
Mercury-photoinduced radical reactions with cyclic diethers lead to the expected bicyclic products. In addition, new non-symmetric dimerization products are obtained as byproducts of this reaction. The generation of these new species can be explained through selective radical-induced rearrangement (β-scission).
THE RELATIVE REACTIVITY OF 2-METHYL-1,3-DIOXOLANE IN RADICAL REACTION WITH UNSATURATED COMPOUNDS
Ryabinina, T. A.,Kruglov, D. E.,Pastushenko, E. V.,Terent'ev, A. B.
, p. 602 - 605 (2007/10/02)
The reactivity of 2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl radicals toward α-olefins containing substituents with various polarities was studied. There is a substantial increase in the relative addition rate constant in the series consisting of vinyl butyl ether, 1-hexene, vinyl acetate, trimethylvinylsilane, methyl acrylate, and acrylonitrile. This indicates that the 2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl radicals have clearly defined nucleophilic character.
