Oxidative amidation by Cu(ii)-guanidine acetic acid immobilized on magnetized sawdust with eggshell as a natural base

Arefi, Marzban,Darvishi, Atefeh,Heydari, Akbar,Kazemi Miraki, Maryam

, p. 11777 - 11785 (2020/07/21)

Copper(ii)-guanidine acetic acid complex was immobilized on the surface of magnetized raw waste sawdust (SD) as an abundant natural biopolymer and employed as an efficient and recoverable catalyst in oxidative amidation reaction, while waste eggshell (ES) powder was used as a low-cost solid base. The magnetic raw catalyst was fully characterized using FTIR, XRD, SEM, EDX, TGA, and VSM. A variety of amide derivatives were successfully synthesized in moderate to good yields using benzyl alcohol and amine salts. The application of sawdust and eggshell as two natural and abundant waste materials is the main advantage of this research. Moreover, these low-cost catalysts were recovered at least five times and utilized in reaction systems with a minimal decrease in activity.

Air-stable Bis(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) Zirconium Perfluorooctanesulfonate as an Efficient and Recyclable Catalyst for the Synthesis of N-substituted Amides

Li, Ningbo,Wang, Lingxiao,Zhang, Liting,Zhao, Wenjie,Qiao, Jie,Xu, Xinhua,Liang, Zhiwu

, p. 3532 - 3538 (2018/08/01)

Bis(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) zirconium perfluorooctanesulfonate is an air-stable and water-tolerant Lewis acid. This complex exhibited good thermal stability and high solubility in polar organic solvents. The compound showed relatively strong acidity, with an acid strength of 0.8Ho≤3.3, and high catalytic efficiency for the synthesis of N-substituted amides via the reaction of carboxylic acids with amines, the Ritter reaction of nitriles with alcohols, and the amination of alcohols with amides. Moreover, the complex had good reusability. This catalytic system affords a simple and efficient way to synthesize N-substituted amides.

CuH-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydroamidation of Vinylarenes

Zhou, Yujing,Engl, Oliver D.,Bandar, Jeffrey S.,Chant, Emma D.,Buchwald, Stephen L.

supporting information, p. 6672 - 6675 (2018/06/11)

A CuH-catalyzed enantioselective hydroamidation reaction of vinylarenes has been developed using readily accessible 1,4,2-dioxazol-5-ones as electrophilic amidating reagents. This method provides a straightforward and efficient approach to synthesize chiral amides in good yields with high levels of enantiopurity under mild conditions. Moreover, this transformation tolerates substrates bearing a broad range of functional groups.

Copper-amino group complexes supported on silica-coated magnetite nanoparticles: Efficient catalyst for oxidative amidation of methyl arenes

Karimi, Meghdad,Ghandi, Leila,Saberi, Dariush,Heydari, Akbar

supporting information, p. 3900 - 3908 (2018/03/06)

Magnetite nanoparticles coated with mesoporous silica, Fe3O4@SiO2, were prepared. Surface functionalization of this core-shell nanocomposite with (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane (APTMS) followed by its reaction with Cu(OAc)2 was used to develop a new heterogeneous copper complex (Fe3O4@SiO2-APTMS-Cu). The structure and composition of the synthesized nanocatalyst were characterized by FTIR, SEM, VSM, TEM, XRD, and ICP analyses. The catalytic activity of the synthesized catalyst was probed in the oxidative amidation reaction of methyl arenes with amine hydrochloride salts. Various primary, secondary, and tertiary amides were prepared by this method. The magnetic properties of this catalyst lead to easy separation as well as providing significant catalyst recyclability. The catalyst is reusable 6 times without significant decrease in its catalytic activity.

An Unconventional Reaction of 2,2-Diazido Acylacetates with Amines

H?ring, Andreas P.,Biallas, Phillip,Kirsch, Stefan F.

supporting information, p. 1526 - 1539 (2017/04/01)

We have discovered that 2,2-diazido acylacetates, a class of compounds with essentially unknown reactivity, can be coupled to amines through a new strategy that does not involve any reagents. 2,2-Diazido acetate is the unconventional leaving group under carbon–carbon bond cleavage. This reaction leads to the construction of amide bonds, tolerates various functionalities and is performed equally well in numerous solvents under experimentally simple conditions. We also demonstrate that the isolation of the 2,2-diazido acylacetate compounds can be circumvented: Acylacetates were easily fragmented when treated with (Bu4N)N3 and iodine in the presence of an amine at room temperature. By using this method, a broad range of acylacetates with various structural motifs were directly transformed into amides.

Aminofluorene-Mediated Biomimetic Domino Amination-Oxygenation of Aldehydes to Amides

Ghosh, Santanu,Jana, Chandan K.

, p. 5788 - 5791 (2016/11/29)

A conceptually novel biomimetic strategy based on a domino amination-oxygenation reaction was developed for direct amidation of aldehydes under metal-free conditions employing molecular oxygen as the oxidant. 9-Aminofluorene derivatives acted as pyridoxamine-5′-phosphate equivalents for efficient, chemoselective, and operationally simple amine-transfer oxygenation reaction. Unprecedented RNH transfer involving secondary amine to produce secondary amides was achieved. In the presence of 18O2, 18O-amide was formed with excellent (95%) isotopic purity.

Copper-Catalyzed Reductive N-Alkylation of Amides with N-Tosylhydrazones Derived from Ketones

A CuI-catalyzed reductive coupling of ketone-derived N-tosylhydrazones with amides is presented. Under the optimized conditions, an array of N-tosylhydrazones derived from aryl–alkyl and diaryl ketones could couple effectively with a wide variety of (hete

Iron/caffeine as a catalytic system for microwave-promoted benzamide formation

Bantreil, Xavier,Navals, Pauline,Martinez, Jean,Lamaty, Fr??d??ric

, p. 417 - 422 (2015/03/03)

The amide bond is an essential unit in many drugs and polymers. The catalyzed oxidation of alcohols and amines is an effective method to form amides with limited undesired waste. Herein, we demonstrate the beneficial effect of microwave activation for this reaction. The benzamides were directly formed from alcohols and amine hydrochloride salts in short reaction times with yields up to 84% and TOFs (turnover frequencies) up to 33.6 h-1. Among the examined transition metals, only nontoxic and inexpensive FeCl2?·4H2O together with caffeine as a stabilizing ligand provided a uniquely efficient catalytic system for the transformation. Natural sources of caffeine were also evaluated under the amidation conditions.

Hypervalent iodine-catalyzed oxidative amidation of methylarenes

Azizi, Kobra,Karimi, Meghdad,Heydari, Akbar

, p. 31817 - 31820 (2014/08/18)

Hypervalent iodine-catalyzed oxidative amidation of methylarenes to the corresponding amides by using an oxidant (tert-butyl hydroperoxide, 70% aqueous solution) is discussed. This oxidizing agent presented a high degree of selectivity for the oxidation of toluene to amide without oxidation to carboxylic acid. This reaction involves metal-free oxidation, a mild reaction condition and tert-butyl alcohol as the only by-product.

Iron-catalyzed benzamide formation. Application to the synthesis of moclobemide

Bantreil, Xavier,Kanfar, Nasreddine,Gehin, Nicolas,Golliard, Ethan,Ohlmann, Pauline,Martinez, Jean,Lamaty, Frédéric

, p. 5093 - 5099 (2014/07/08)

A convenient and user-friendly method to yield benzamides from primary and secondary amines and various benzylic alcohols in the presence of a cheap iron salt (FeCl2·4H2O) and tert-butylhydroperoxide (70% in water) as a stoichiometric oxidant is described. Control experiments indicated that this reaction might involve radical species. This method proved to be general, generating a family of 30 benzamides and was applied to the preparative synthesis of anti-anxiety drug moclobemide.
