The total synthesis of alamethicin I by solution phase methods is reported.
Z-Aib-Pro-Aib-Ala-Aib-Ala-OMe is a synthetic peptide composed of seven amino acid residues. It features a unique sequence with alternating Aib (α-aminoisobutyric acid) and Ala (alanine) residues, along with a Pro (proline) in the second position. The peptide is N-terminally protected by a carbobenzoxy (Z) group, which is commonly used in peptide synthesis to prevent unwanted side reactions.
