The xanthen-9-yl anion, also known as the xanthene-9-olate anion, is a conjugate base derived from xanthene, a tricyclic aromatic compound. This anion is formed when a proton is removed from the xanthene molecule, typically from the 9-position, resulting in a negatively charged species. It is an important intermediate in the synthesis of various xanthene-based dyes and pigments, such as rhodamine and fluorescein, which are widely used in applications like fluorescence labeling, laser dyes, and colorants. The xanthen-9-yl anion is characterized by its stability due to resonance within the aromatic system, which delocalizes the negative charge across the molecule.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 72301-71-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,2,3,0 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 72301-71:
(7*7)+(6*2)+(5*3)+(4*0)+(3*1)+(2*7)+(1*1)=94
94 % 10 = 4
So 72301-71-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

CIDEP Studies of the Formation of Benzyl-Type Radicals in the Photoreduction of Flavones

Sakaguchi, Yoshio,Hayashi, Hisaharu,Murai, Hisao,I'Haya, Yasumasa J.

, p. 6416 - 6420 (1986)

The photochemical hydrogen abstraction reactions of flavone and its derivatives with some hydrogen donors in 2-propanol solutions were investigated at room temperture with the aid of a chemically induced dynamic electron polarization technique. When xanthene and N,N-diethylaniline were used as hydrogen donors, the ketyl redical of flavone was obtained through the n?* character and charge-transfer interaction of the triplet state, respectively. When tri-n-butyltin hydride and sodium borodeuteride were used as hydrogen donors, the benzyl-type radicals of flavones were obtained through the ??* character of the triplet states.
