Bis-gluconamides and bis-lactobionamides novel α,ω-type (bolaform) surfactants with two sugar head groups
Garelli-Calvet,Brisset,Rico,Lattes
, p. 35 - 44 (1993)
A new family of bolaform surfactants with sugar head groups is described. The bis-gluconamides and bis-lactobionamides were obtained in excellent yield in a new route by action of a diamine HN2-C(n)H(2n)-NH2 (n = 6-12) on either delta-gluconolactone or lactobionic acid.

experimental part, p. 1549 - 1556 (2009/07/24)
With use of iodine as an appropriate oxidant, unprotected and unmodified aldoses undergo oxidative amidation with a variety of functionalized amines, a-amino esters, and peptides, whereas KDO, sialic acid, and other a-keto acids proceed with oxidative dec
