A number of new derivatives of 3H-2-imino-5,7-dimethylpyrido--1,3-thiazin-4-one (2) have been synthesized.The compounds were obtained in the reaction of 4-chloro-2,6-dimethylnicotinic acid ester (1) with differently N-substituted thioureas.Chloroester 1 with N-monoalkylthioureas in ethanol, forms a mixture of isomeric 2-alkyl and 3-alkyl derivatives and solely 2-alkyl isomers in acetic acid.It was demonstrated that in alkaline medium compound 2 reacted with methyl chlorocarbonate resulting in 3-methoxycarbonyl derivative, and with an excess of reagent it was transformed into 4-carbomethoxymercapto-2,6-dimethylnicotinoyl carbomethoxycyanamide (6).A mechanism of the reaction has been proposed.Pharmacologic analysis of the derivatives showed that some had antiinflammatory activity.
