The reaction of chlorodisulfanylformyl chloride (4) with cyclohexene affords 2-chlorocyclohexyldisulfanylformyl chloride (5) which undergoes methanolysis to give compound 8b.With 3,3-dimethylbutene (9) and 4 the anti-Markownikow products 10 and 11, respectively, are formed. With ethyl acetoacetate as well as acetylacetone and 4 substitution reactions take place to yield the hydrogen-bridged cis-enols 12 and 15, respectively.
