New 7-substituted-8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives of thiazoles and oxazoles have been synthesised from different thiazolyl- and oxazolyl-amines, benzaldehyde and 8-hydroxyquinoline by Mannich type of reaction.The compounds show fungicidal activity against Pyricularia oryzae (Cav) and antibacterial activity against common pathogenic bacteria Esch. coli and Staph. aureus.
