2-Methyl-3,4,5-triphenylcyclopentadienone reacts with trimethyl phosphite in the presence of methanol to give dimethyl 2-methyl-3,4,5-triphenyl- and dimethyl 5-methyl-2,3,4-triphenylcyclopenta-1,4-dienyl phosphates, 1-methoxy-2-methyl-3,4,5-triphenylcyclopenta-2,4-diene, 1-methoxy-2-methyl-2,3,4-triphenylcyclopenta-1,3-diene, and also products of reduction of symmetrically and unsymmetrically substituted double bonds.
