Some quaternary ammonium compounds were prepared from cycloaliphatic amines and have been tested as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in 50percent H3PO4 by weight loss and polarization techniques.The both two techniques gave the same order of inhibition.It is suggested that these heterocyclic quaternary ammonium compounds act mainly as cathodic inhibitors of the acid corrosion of mild steel.The degree of coverage of electorde surfaces was calculated from the corrosion rates with and without inhibitors.Also thermodynamic parameters for adsorption were calculated using the Frumkin adsorption isotherm.
