The reactions of LGaCl2 (L = HC[C(Me)N(Ar)l2, Ar = 2,6-iPr2C6H3) with NH3 and H 2O, respectively, in the presence of a 1,3-bis-tert-butylimidazol-2- ylidene (N-heterocyclic carbene) as acceptor for the HCl lead to unique species of composition LGa(NH2)2 and LGa(OH)2 in high yields under mild conditions. LGa(NH2)2 is the first known monomeric diamide of gallium.
