Bis(alkyl xanthato)bis(p-biphenyl)tin(IV) complexes of the type (p-C6H5-C6H4)2Sn(S2COR)2 (where R = Me, Et, Pr, i-Pr, Bu or i-Bu) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molecular weight, conductivity, IR and PMR spectral data.The complexes are monomeric and non-electrolytic in nature.On the basis of IR spectra, bidentate mode of bonding of the xanthate ligand and a coordination number of six for tin have been assigned.
