LIGNANS, NEOLIGNANS AND NORNEOLIGNANS FROM KRAMERIA CYSTISOIDES

The hexane extract from the roots of Krameria cystisoides yielded besides conocarpan, licarin A, eupomatenoids 6 and 13, and ratanhiaphenol I 16 hitherto unknown lignans, neolignans and norneolignans, among them toltecol and olmecol.Structural elucidation was based mainly on spectroscopic investigations, especially 13C NMR. - Key Word Index: Krameria cystisoides; Krameriaceae; new lignans; neolignans and norneolignans.

Natural Benzofuranes. Synthesis of Eupomatenoids-1, -3, -4, -5, -6, -7, and -13

A group of eupomatenoids, natural lignans possessing 2-aryl-3-methyl-5-propenylbenzofuran structures have been synthesized by short pathways which include the intramolecular Wittig reaction of an o-bromoethylaryl benzoate ester as a key step.
