The alkylation of benzamide, N-methylbenzamide and N,N'-dimethylterephthalamide is performed by phase transfer catalysis without solvent.The method provides good selectivity and high yields, except in the case of N,N'-dimethylterephtalamide, together with economic and safe reaction conditions.
