, (2020/06/16)
The invention discloses a synthesis method of 2, 4-dimethyl-3-methylsulfonyl halobenzene. According to the method, 2, 6-dimethylaniline is used as a raw material, and dimethyl disulfide is firstly subjected to methylmercaptolation in a system taking tert-butyl nitrite and copper powder as catalysts; finally, peroxyacetic acid is used for oxidation, after the reaction is finished, dichloromethane is used for extracting a reaction solution, drying and spin-drying are performed to obtain 2, 6-dimethylsulfonyl benzene, a halogenating reagent is added into the obtained 2, 6-dimethylsulfonyl benzenein a concentrated sulfuric acid system for a reaction, and after the reaction is finished, water is added, and filtering and drying are performed to obtain 2, 4-dimethyl-3-methylsulfonyl halobenzene. The method has the advantages of easily available raw materials, feasible route, simple operation, high product purity and low cost.

A total synergistic effect between bismuth(III) or antimony(III) chlorides and triflic acid has been observed in the Friedel-Crafts methanesulfonylation of arenes and has resulted in the development of the first efficient catalytic systems usable for the methanesulfonylation of both activated and deactivated arenes. A proposed mechanism to explain the observed effects is also discussed. Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2004.
